The term “feature creep” is often used to describe a product or service overridden with features to a point where the overall offering becomes less functional. Rather than focus on a few outstanding features, a myriad of substandard features are crammed into the product, diminishing the overall value and utility. I think the same can be said for blogs — and the abuse use of widgets.

I know I’ve criticized many services recently, but I get upset with poor judgment. Video comments from Seesmic are no exception. I see no value in them. In fact, I find them counterproductive and downright annoying.

It must truly be a slow news day. Upon visiting the Techmeme homepage earlier, I was greeted by a front page headline (i.e. top news story) that spotlights the bicker between Michael Arrington and Wired. Is this truly the most interesting, pertinent, hot topic item of the moment? Is this the most thought-provoking, conversation-igniting meme of the day? I hope not. If so, I’m taking a long vacation and re-assessing my priorities…

Yesterday, the fate of Cambrian House was sealed. After raising over $7 million, the Canadian crowdsourcing firm shut its doors after an unsuccessful attempt at a new round of financing. So what gave? Was it a lack of focus or poor management? Or was the model doomed to fail in the first place?

The migration from desktop to Internet continues. Nowadays I find myself using very few apps on the desktop. More and more, I am transitioning to online services as the quality and scope of services increases.
